Singaporeans love grocery shopping and credit cards are the perfect match! These are the best grocery credit cards in Singapore for unlimited fun.
In Singapore, the average household spends around $1,200 per month on food. If this sounds about right for your family, then you’re probably always wondering how to cut down on costs!
While spending money on food is inevitable, there are definitely ways you can lessen the sting of your costs. For example, you can get grocery credit cards!
Are you a Singaporean who wants to save on grocery bills? Then you can’t miss out on this article. Here, we’ll show you 5 of the best grocery credit cards in Singapore you should consider!
1. HSBC Revolution Credit Card
First on our list is the HSB Revolution credit card. What’s great about this card is that you can earn up to 10 times the rewards points when you charge dining, entertainment, and online experiences, and 1X rewards points per $1 spent on everything else. The other option is 4 miles per $1 spent on purchases that qualify.
Either way, you’ll be pleased to know that there is no minimum spend required! So whenever you purchase groceries, you’ll earn some rewards points, whether you spend $5 or $500. What you do have to be aware of is that you can only get a maximum of 10,000 HSBC Rewards points every month.
When you first sign up for the credit card, you’ll get a welcome offer of up to $200 cashback. You can get an additional $30 cashback if you sign up for the card with MyInfo through SingPass. If you’re already an HSBC cardholder, then you’re eligible for an additional $30 cashback as well.
For those of you who fill up on petrol while buying groceries, there’s good news. With the HSBC Revolution credit card, you’ll get a 21.15% discount at Caltex stations for a limited time.
Some other great features of this card include:
- No annual fee
- Balance transfer limit of up to 95%
- Processing fee waiver on balance transfers of approved amounts over $10,000
- Up to $250 cash rebate for every successful referral
2. Maybank Family & Friends Card
Do you like to shop at Cold Storage, one of the oldest supermarket chains in the country? Then this is the card you’ll want to bring along with you!
When you use your Maybank Family & Friends card, you’ll get 8% cashback on your groceries. It’s enough to make you want to go grocery shopping!
But that’s not all. You’ll also get 8% back on Netflix, transport, restaurants, petrol, telco, and much more. So if you have lots of expenses, it can be worth it to charge them to your credit card to get some money back.
These perks do come with a catch though. To get that 8% cashback, you have to spend at least $800 in one month. If you manage to spend between $500 to $799, then you’ll get 5% cashback.
There’s also a limit on how much money you can get back. No matter how much you swipe, you can only get $80 back per month.
3. UOB Delight Card
The UOB Delight card is also good for shopping at Cold Storage. Other supermarkets it’s good for include Market Place, Guardian, as well as Jasons and Giant.
Like the Maybank Family & Friends card, you can get 8% cashback at these supermarkets. In addition, you can get 3% cashback for recurring bills and contactless transactions. For all other purchases on this credit card, you’ll get 0.3% cashback.
Of course, there are terms and conditions, just like with the other cards. To get the 8% cashback, you need to spend at least $800 every month.
If you aren’t able to reach $800 of charges in a month, then consider signing up for the Citibank SMRT Platinum Visa card instead. You’ll be able to get 5% cashback when you buy groceries.
4. DBS Live Fresh Card
The DBS Live Fresh card is good for all supermarket chains. So if you’re not particularly loyal to one and love to shop around for the best deals, then sign up for this credit card!
With this card, you’ll get 5% cashback at every supermarket chain. Not only that, but you can enjoy cashback on Visa contactless transactions and online shopping too.
You only need to spend a minimum of $600 monthly to be eligible, which isn’t bad at all! This is especially true when you compare it to other cards that have minimum spends of $800 or more.
The DBS Live Fresh card has a monthly cashback cap of $80.
5. CIMB Visa Signature
Perhaps you don’t do your groceries in person, but rather, online. Not only does this save you time, but you also don’t have to get dressed! In this case, the best card for you is the CIMB Visa Signature card.
You’ll get 10% cashback on your online shopping, which is a huge deal. You can also get 10% back on things like pet shops, vet services, cruise travel, and beauty and wellness shopping. For everything else, you’ll get 0.2% cashback.
The monthly cashback limit is capped at $100, with a cap of $20 per category. The exception is the “everything else” spend. You won’t have to hit a minimum spend or have a monthly cap with those charges!
Make sure you keep an eye out for promotions, because they can be quite generous. For instance, earlier in 2021, they offered $100 cash credit to all new customers. They even had a lucky draw where the winner got 6 months’ worth of credit card bills paid for!
